The Missionary Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer were founded by the Redemptorists from the Province of München in 1957, in Gars am Inn (Germany).
According to the charism of the Congregation, the sisters try to respond to the needs of the Church at the places where the pastoral situation requires special attention. In the first place the sisters want to reach the abandoned, who don’t have proper pastoral care, in places where the Good News is not known yet.
There are two Regions in CRE: “German-Austrian” and “Ukrainian”. 43 sisters are working in Germany and Austria, and 27 sisters in Ukraine. Sr. Margret Obereder (from „German-Austrian Region”) is the Mother General, and she lives in München, Germany.
There are three more Regions of the Congregation outside Europe – Chile, Bolivia and Japan.

The Ukrainian Province of the Missionary Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer was founded in 2001 in Lviv in Kiev-Galicia Archdiocese. There are seven communities in Ukraine now. The sisters work mostly with children and teenagers, teaching catechism, but also give lectures at the Universities. The sisters organize and conduct retreats days and missions together with other priests.
The sisters are working in four different Dioceses of the Greek-Catholic Church in Ukraine: Kyiv–Vyshhorod Archdiocese (Chernihiv), Ternopil-Zborivska Archdiocese (Kamjanec-Podilskyj, Ternopil), Lviv Archdiocese and Exarchate of Odesa and Crimea.
The Missionary Sisters feel a special solidarity with the Ukrainian nation in this difficult time, so the sisters try to support Ukrainian patriots and victims of the military conflict. They collect resources for them, but – as the sisters say – only prayer can give Ukrainians hope for the future.
