Brunnenprojekt Bochum Hustadt (D)

Province St. Clemens
Name Brunnenprojekt
Place Hustadt, Bochum (Germany)
Description of project The Brunnenprojekt is a social project located in an urban district with a population coming from about fifty different countries. For Christians to be visibly present in such an environment requires but may also stimulates interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
The diversity of the population is a challenge which becomes an enriching experience when dialogue succeeds. The aim is to foster dialogue, to build bridges and to share all the sources inspiring the parties concerned. Sources which give us strength and orientation in our lives. Sources for social commitment, solidarity, justice and simply “being there for one another”.Important for us:

  • Dialogue on an equal footing for young and old
  • Cooperative partnership between full-time and voluntary workers
  • Whole-hearted and competent commitment
  • Hospitality, care and respect
  • Cooperation with other “players” on the scene.

Present activities:

  • Presence in “inner” Hustadt (outreach work)
  • Recruiting and supporting voluntary workers
  • Intercultural and interreligious dialogue
  • “Brunnentreff” (meeting point of Brunnenprojekt) at Robert-Koch-Strasse 37:
    – Place of encounter and hospitality
    – Contact office
    – Workshop for do-it-yourself repairs
  • Developing further projects
